Working Procedure
Supporting Exports
The Cabinet has resolved that the Ministry of Public Health set up a center for inspection of drugs and medical products for export as many products have been found to be substandard. FDA is developing a mechanism so that the drug or food export licensing process can be done with convenience, timeliness and modernization on a rightful and scientific basis.
Working on Sufficient Economic System
This policy is based on a clear and wide mission especially on quality standards and safety products in cooperation with other related government agencies.
Guarding at Customs Checkpoints
Customs checkpoints are places where unsafe products cross the Thai border. FDA inspection measures have to be strengthened more seriously in many provinces. Due to a lack of provincial FDA officers in carrying out this mission, FDA shall request provincial public health offices to solve this problem, such as those Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai where most of illegal products taken across the borders are drugs. In case of lacking checkpoints in provinces, FDA shall request them to guard against the illegal imports of risky goods.
Providing Budget Continuously for Law-Enforcing Consumer Organizations
Some enterprises do not fear the punishment measures taken by the public sector, so the measure which can threat them is the use of social control mechanisms, organized by private sector agencies that have relevant interest to help activate the social control efforts. If any organization has relevant interest activities, FDA will provide a budget to support their activities as the project concerns the mission of FDA. In order to inspect the mission of the aforementioned private enterprises, FDA will establish a third organization to be in charge of inspecting such organizations.
Creating a Guardian System
FDA will request both local and central governments, for the benefit of developing a working system and allocating budget, to cooperate with provincial public health offices, the Department of Medical Sciences, and FDA. And FDA will create a cooperating mechanism between provincial and district consumer protection offices.
